President’s Comments/Update (Angelo Bryant)

– Sanity Check: several co-workers have come down with COVID; everyone seems good;

– Space & AF Ball Feedback: outstanding success! Talking about Space Force anniversary (17 December); how much do we want to be involved?  SpoC is running it vice Space Force Association; expect to be at the Peterson Hub. Tentative place holder, alternate venue being searched out.

 There is a questionnaire and Angelo will send out to board.

– Training Update: Encouraged everyone to get training on their position on the AFA portal—new training needs to be done by 15 October

– October/November priorities update: lots of open, vacant positions (PCS’s); Let Angelo know if you know of anyone who would be willing to fill these roles; no new folks are departing, but we are still in need of filling openings. Two years for Executive Council members are typical. Number one fill needs to be the Treasurer. Angelo is acting Treasurer but wants other council members to hold him accountable.

— Executive Council Member vacancy updates: Treasurer,  Membership VP, Aerospace Education & Scholarship VP, Veteran’s Affairs VP, Government Relations VP, Community Relations VP

— Additional Support needed:

— Storage inventory (Oct): Tentative 23 Oct 0800-1000- Need to coordinate with NDIA; should coordinate with Gayle White on this (have history knowledge) Caty can help but prefers afternoon; Angelo will reach out to Gayle;

— Space Force Birthday (Dec): 17 December—Angelo will send out info; DJ is part of the USSF committee via the Base 5/6 private org; We want to show our AFA support; up to $1,000. Recommend it not be a formal event due to the short time and young people are not into formal wear; Angelo will confirm how we will be able to support best.

— Holiday Reception: 14 Dec 21 reserved at Pinery on the Hill; cost about $4,750 (should contact Kevin Mortison (First Command) to see what it cost them; that will accommodate 100 folks; we are on the hook this time to host & fund it. Request Angelo send out the info to Brandi & Gayle  

— Out Reach “You were at the ball”- opportunity to solicit volunteers – Caty; we’ll discuss at the October meeting; 860+ attended the Ball—Wow! Caty is up for any type of event to get folks together; Angelo: let’s work on reaching the masses with the attendance list; we’ll select a venue and generate a theme. Caty: look at who attended; reach out to them where they are with tailored events that are family friendly. Angelo will make an agenda for it. Maybe welcome folks who are new and just PCS’d in

— Space Force Association established a local chapter (Falzarano Chapter) named after the late Peterson Base Commander
