President’s Comments/Update (Doc Apodaca)

– Wellness check on everyone:
– Covid-19 updates: note to Sijan is spot on; rodeo is moving out; NDIA Ball (2d week of August); anything may slip
– Events moving forward – Example of Rodeo; it’s been moved to 12-15 August
– IMAGE Golf – 19 Aug – Meetings starting next Friday—if you want to help, let Doc know and he’ll get you contact info; first meeting is by Skype.
– AF Ball – push updates to next meeting; everyone received the notice through constant contact
– Sijan Chapter – Moving forward: Doc may have an assignment in July/August (PCS), but he put his application in for Space Force—something will happen with him. What it means for Sijan: Angelo is being groomed to take Doc’s place (can hold elections early).  Big challenges for the Chapter—discussed the challenges with numerous areas including CPs; Doc will come up with some COAs
             –– Dave stated that the Space Force is already forming the Space Force Association; this could impact the AFA. Need to sell a pitch to AF Officer. We need to be financially stable too. Can’t survive on dues and have no major fundraiser—need to evolve into an org that doesn’t have to work so hard every year for funding (financial base).
– Need nominations for awards; executive committee should determine
– Linda offered up considering a donation to starting a foundation for Gen Douglas, the previous National President, who passed away recently. Board was favorable.
