Enlisted Heritage Highlights – AFA Newsletter
On March 22 the Sijan Chapter was pleased to present a panel of three distinguished Command Chiefs from the Pikes Peak Region at their Enlisted Heritage event. The panel members consisted of the current 21st Space Wing Commander – Command Chief Master Sergeant Jacob Simmons, Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) Commander – Chief Master Sergeant (retired) Brendan Criswell and the very first AFSPC Commander – Chief Master Sergeant (retired) Chuck Zimkas. SMSgt Kelli Jackson, Superintendent from 21st Space Wing Medical Group, was the Moderator for the evening. Each panel member gave a presentation pertaining to their tenure as commander in chief and answered thought-provoking questions from the attendees. It was fascinating to see these three giants together on one stage and to hear the comparisons from each commander’s era.
Also, on display were uniforms of each era (See attached) thanks to Jeffrey Nash, Assistant Director/Curator at Peterson Air and Space Museum, 21st Space Wing/MU.
To expand on the enlisted heritage’s theme and the uniforms, TSgt Shierae Bryan placed the Air Force Chevron timeline posters in the room to depict the Chevron variations over the years.
