Save the Date, February 2nd, for the 2019 Air Force Ball!!
If you’ve never been to the Air Force Ball at the Broadmoor, now is the time to be making your plans for this hugely popular and extremely special event, this year to be held on Saturday, February 2 and hosted by the Lance P. Sijan Air Force Association Chapter. The cuisine is exquisite, the setting is unequaled anywhere else in Colorado Springs, and you can dance the night away after the dinner. Active duty and retirees, corporate sponsors,
cadets all gather to celebrate in black tie and evening gown. Special guests will include ranking general officers, the most junior ranking airman from all the surrounding AF units and Outstanding Airmen from the major commands. The General Jerome F. O’Malley Distinguished Space Leader Award is announced to recognize a leader who has contributed at the highest levels to achieving General O’Malley’s vision of “…providing an intensified space focus and reorienting USAF philosophy toward and operational approach by advocating the operations use of space systems at the highest levels of the Air Force.” Maybe you can treat your sweetheart to an early Valentine’s Day” night out or just come to enjoy this one-of-a-kind gala. Beyond the Horizon! Celebrating the Air Force’s journey to ever greater heights.
The Lance P. Sijan Chapter of the Air Force Association is sponsoring the Wounded Airman Benefit at the Broadmoor on Monday, 4 February 2019 in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Cyberspace Symposium. Come to the Broadmoor Rocky Mountain Ballroom from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Join us for fun socializing, peer networking, and prizes. This Benefit is only $5! Donations will support AFA’s Wounded Airman Program costs. Here is how your support helps:
· A $25 donation provides one caregiver with a caregiver lunch and much needed “me-time.”
· A $750 donation provides an adaptive sports bow and arrow for a warrior competing at the Warrior Games
· A $100 donation provides an Airman with an emergency financial assistance grant that pays an electric bill to keep his lights on
· A $1,000 donation provides an Airman for Life Travel Grant which assists an Airman with transportation and lodging to attend a rehabilitative event

Welcome to the Oct 2018-Oct 2020 Executive Board!
The Lance P. Sijan Chapter held elections in October for two-year terms for all positions on the Executive Board. Our new President “Doc” Apodaca and Vice President Angelo Bryant are excited about their new opportunity to contribute to the mission of the Air Force Association by supporting the Air Force and the Air Force family. We are so appreciative that Doug Kendall and Bill Houth were willing to continue on as our Secretary and Treasurer. See more on page two of this newsletter.
