Thank you Kristen for your service
This is my last newsletter as Chapter President. Thank you to all who supported the Chapter these past two years and me personally.
Volunteers are the heart of our organization, touted by the highest senior Air Force leaders as the premier Air Force professional military and aerospace education association. Our Chapter, the third largest in
the AFA organization. Our volunteers have collectively dedicated thousands of hours to bring programs and events to our community such as the Air Force Ball, the Wounded Airman Benefit, the inaugural Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) Symposium, sponsored numerous award ceremonies, and scholarships. We have done a tremendous job and has been noticed by National AFA and military organizations have taken notice. NORAD came to our Chapter to help with the planning and execution of their 60th Anniversary Ball specifically as a result of our stellar events.
In 2017, we earned the Outstanding XL Chapter Unit Award and this year we were awarded Exceptional Service Award for Community Relations, Aerospace Education Excellence XL Chapter Award, and the Jack Gross Award for membership recruitment. We are making a difference and modeling being the “Force Behind the Force”. We have given our time, treasure, and talent to our community.
To our generous sponsors – thank you for your trust and continued support. I hope you continue to see the value in what the Lance P. Sijan Chapter does for our Airmen and their families with your contributions.
My heart-felt thanks to the Board: Doc Apodaca, Doug Kendall, Bill Houth, Dave Geuting, Jeri Andrews, Willie Kalaskie, Gayle Divine, and Brandi Sandoval – I cherish working with each you toward a common goal. A special thanks to Henry Baird (MDC2 Symposium) and Caty Rozema (2018 Air Force Ball) who put up with me as co-chairs. Huge endeavors by a fantastic team!
And to our members, the breadth and depth of my gratitude has no words. Thank you for your support, trust, and kind words when you didn’t realize I needed them, and especially for the vote of confidence when I was in the running for Air Force Spouse of the Year. This award has been a springboard in so many avenues for me personally and hopefully AFA as I try to be a good ambassador for our organization. I will still be involved as Past President on the Board and active in our events.
I was not able to raise my right hand to take an oath of service, but took a vow with my left hand to serve as a military spouse. It has been such a pleasure to serve AFA the past two years.
Joyfully,
Kristen Christy
