Sijan Chapter Hosts AF Ball

The Lance P. Sijan Chapter hosted a special black tie gala for nearly 700 attendees at the world class Broadmoor, the most elegant venue in Colorado Springs.   The event was enjoyable and fun-filled in celebration of our Airmen’s contributions to the world’s greatest Air, Space and Cyber Force.   From the posting of the colors by the Mitchell High School Junior ROTC to the remarks by Lieutenant General Michelle Johnson, Air Force Academy Superintendent, the Ball was a wonderful social event for the Air Force community of the Front Range.  The featured entertainment was provided by the Air Force Academy Band—Blue Steel, featuring seven elite musicians who created the ideal atmosphere for the venue.  Chapter President Don Kidd recognized the generous corporate sponsorships that subsidize the ticket prices to make the event affordable for all ranks.  Any profits from the event are given back to the Air Force community in many ways, from scholarships to supporting unit awards programs.  For the second year, the recognition for Distinguished Space Leadership with the General Jerome F. O’Malley Award was a featured event of the program.  This year’s recipient was Brigadier General Nina M. Armango.  The Chapter highlighted the attendance of the most junior ranking airman, Airman Patrick Simeon, Jr., who entered active duty on July 29, 2014.  The attendees also had the privilege of meeting two of the 2014 AFA Outstanding Airmen of the Year, Senior Master Sergeant Boston A. Alexander and Technical Sergeant Ryan E. Gangadeen.   Thanks to the dedicated Sijan volunteers, the AF Ball was once again a truly festive and celebratory highlight of Chapter activities.
